Behind Closed Eyes

Like the Moon reflects the Sun,

there is a Light Sublime,

That the Sun reflects....

And the Super Nova, The Pulsars, The Quasars,

The far away galaxies....

All are mere reflections of a far greater light
that shines on from time immemorial,
from time even before the creation of time....

The light that is greater than all visible light,
the light that has for ever been in our hearts,

the light that shines even in the greatest darkness,
without disturbing any one,
the source of everlasting life,
shines on,
behind closed eyes,
and lifts all those who see,
to lightness unbearable,
till every thing bursts,
till every thing settles,

in peace ineffable.
